Still Married But Husband Moved To Another Country, What To Do?

07 Nov

My husband and I had been married for 8 years or so when he left to live with a woman in England, whom he had met on the internet and apparently had been having a long term affair. The entire time we were married he hardly worked, was essentially an atheist and had somewhat of a drug problem. The problem is, he has left and it’s been 2 years. In the interim I had a baby by someone else and I think we need to be divororced. Right before he left we took out a large home equity loan on a house that was left to me, he signed a 30 year with me, so I don’t want to divorce without him having to pay. I don’t know what my legal recourse is. He is now “engaged” and becoming Jewish. This woman’s family have no clue that he is even married or the terrible things he’s done.

I think you should approach her family and tell them exactly how much it will cost to get you to sign off on him. It should cover at least his full share of the loan.

Well, you are the one that has to file for divorce. Doesn’t sound like he’s even interested in that. Depending on the state, you might be able to claim desertion.
I doubt anyone can make him pay the loan with him in another country.

get a really good lawyer and finish that chapter of your life. let him do what he does and you have already moved on so i think you pretty much answered our own question. good luck
